Additional resource requirements for upgrading Cloudera AI

Cloudera AI on premises uses the PostgreSQL database system to store configuration and metadata. In Cloudera AI on premises 1.5.5 SP2 and higher releases, the PostgreSQL database system version has been upgraded from PostgreSQL 12 to PostgreSQL 17.

Upgrading a workbench using PostgreSQL 12 to a workbench using PostgreSQL 17 requires migrating the Cloudera AI data. As part of the migration, two new persistent volumes must be provisioned for the following StatefulSets:

db
model-metrics-db

Creating two additional persistent volume claims requires an extra storage capacity of 50 GiB for each volume claim, resulting in a total of 100 GiB of additional storage required for the migration process.
